 Michael A. Cusumano Professor MIT Sloan SchoolMichael A. Cusumano is the Sloan Management Review Distinguished Professor of Management and Engineering Systems at the
MIT Sloan School of Management, with a joint appointment in MIT’s Engineering Systems Division. He specializes
in strategy, product development, and entrepreneurship in the software business. He is a graduate of Princeton
Harvard, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Production and Operations Management at Harvard Business
School. He is currently a director of Patni Computer Systems, one of the largest IT services and custom
software development firms based in India, and Eliza Corporation, a specialist in speech recognition software
applications, focused on healthcare. He is also on the advisory board of FixStars Corporation, a Japanese
developer of high-performance computing applications; and H-5 Technologies, which focuses on digital search
technology. He also has consulted for dozens of major organizations around the world and is the author or
co-author of 8 books, including The Software Business (2004), Platform Leadership (2002), Competing on
Internet Time (1998), Microsoft Secrets (1995), and Japan's Software Factories (1991). |
