Karan Sorensen is Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development, L.L.C. (J&JPRD) and Centocor Research & Development, Inc. Sorensen is a member of the Centocor R&D Management Board, Pharma R&D IT Council, and Drug Development Leadership Team. Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Sorensen was CIO and Vice President, Information Technology for Invitrogen Corporation/Life Technologies. Earlier, her breadth and depth of experience included strategic planning, manufacturing, engineering and information technology functions for Merck, Jacobs Engineering, General Electric, and DuPont. Sorensen graduated summa cum laude from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Masters of Science in Management of Technology. She earned a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems and Business Administration from Charleston Southern University, graduating cum laude. She is currently working on her PhD in Technology Management at Stevens.
